A pre-wedding shoot is a small production, and the difference between a good one and a mediocre one is almost entirely in the planning.
The locations that work
Mahabalipuram. Stone, texture and scale. Best very early, both for light and because it fills up.
The ECR beaches. Space and horizon. Some stretches are quiet on a weekday morning and impossible on a Sunday evening.
Pondicherry's French quarter. Colour and architecture within a walkable area, which means more setups per hour than anywhere else on this list. Worth the drive.
Old Mylapore. Temple streets, doorways and everyday life happening around you. The most characterful option and the one that needs the most care about being unobtrusive.
Permits
Several heritage and protected sites require permission for a shoot with professional equipment, and enforcement varies by day and by who is on duty. We check and arrange what is needed during planning. Turning up hopeful is how a morning gets wasted.
Sunrise beats sunset
Better light and dramatically fewer people. A 5:30 AM start is genuinely unappealing and it produces noticeably better photographs, especially at coastal and heritage sites where a sunset shoot means sharing the frame with a hundred strangers.
Two locations, not four
Four sounds efficient. By the fourth stop everybody is hot, hungry and finished, and it shows in every frame. Two locations shot properly beat four shot in a hurry, every time.
If neither of you has done this before
Almost nobody has. You are directed continuously. The first twenty minutes feel awkward, then people forget the camera exists, which is when the photographs get good. Plan for that rather than fighting it.
