Little Royals

Thrones, drapes, crowns and gilded framing. Unapologetically theatrical, and the theme that works best once a child is old enough to play along with the idea rather than simply be placed in it.

Baby seated on a decorated set with gold and cream props

What is in the set

A carved throne chair, scaled for a child and weighted so it cannot tip
Heavy velvet drapes in burgundy, emerald or midnight blue
Gilded frames, candelabra and a hand-beaten metal goblet
A crown and sceptre in soft materials, sized for the child
A patterned rug and stone-effect floor
Low, directional lighting — this is the one set we deliberately light dramatically

What to wear

Rich single tones: burgundy, emerald, navy, gold
Brocade, velvet and satin — texture is the whole point here
Capes and sashes, which toddlers enjoy far more than a full costume
Parents in solid dark tones if joining the frame
Minimal jewellery on the child, for obvious safety reasons

What you will come away with

The frames we plan for on this set. Not a guarantee — children have opinions — but this is what we are working towards.

1

Full-length on the throne, shot slightly low so the child has scale

2

Three-quarter portrait with the crown, lit from one side

3

The moment the crown slips, which is the frame families keep

4

Detail of hands on the sceptre or goblet

5

Wide frame showing the full set and drapes

6

Sibling frame — one on the throne, one refusing to co-operate

What we would tell you about this set

This set rewards a child with an attitude. A solemn one-year-old on a throne is a good photograph; a two-year-old who has decided they are genuinely royalty is a great one. If your child is shy, tell us in advance — we soften the lighting and shoot longer and wider, and it becomes a quieter portrait rather than a performance.

FAQ

Little Royals — common questions

My child is shy. Will this set suit them?+

It can, with adjustments. As built the set is theatrical and rewards a child who plays along. For a shy child we soften the lighting and shoot longer and wider, which turns it into a quieter, more classical portrait rather than a performance. Tell us in advance so we plan it that way from the start.

Is the throne safe for a baby?+

Yes — it is scaled for a child and weighted so it cannot tip, and a handler is within reach of the child at all times during throne frames.

What colours work best?+

Rich single tones: burgundy, emerald, navy, gold. Brocade, velvet and satin, because texture is the point of this set. Keep jewellery on the child minimal.
