What we would tell you about this set
The single thing that makes this set work is the foreground layer, and it is the thing every studio skips because it is fiddly to light. Shooting through leaves puts something soft and out of focus at the front of the frame, which is what makes a photograph feel like a place rather than a backdrop. It adds about forty minutes to the build. It is worth every one of them.
Jungle & Safari — common questions
Is the jungle set safe for a baby to sit in?+
Yes. Everything within reach is fabric or foam, nothing is suspended overhead, and the rope bridge and basket are load-tested before every session. Foliage within a child's reach is artificial and washable, because a baby will put a leaf in their mouth within about ninety seconds.
What ages does this set work for?+
Newborn through about three years. Newborns are photographed curled in the rattan basket; sitters work with the fabric animals at eye level; toddlers get the rope bridge and the movement frames.
What should we dress our child in?+
Earth tones — olive, rust, sand, cream. Knitted rompers for newborns, explorer shorts and braces for toddlers, and bare feet throughout. Avoid bright primaries: they fight the set and win.
