A portfolio shows you the best day a studio ever had. These questions tell you what an ordinary one looks like.
1. What happens if my child cries for the whole session?
The answer reveals almost everything. A studio that pushes on to fill the slot will produce a gallery you do not want.
2. Is the set built for my booking, or is it permanent?
Both are legitimate. You should simply know which you are paying for.
3. How many people are in the room during a baby session?
One person cannot safely operate a camera and mind a baby simultaneously.
4. Which portfolio images are composites?
Particularly for newborn work. See our separate article on posing safety.
5. What rights do I get to my own photographs?
Personal use should be unrestricted and permanent. Ask specifically whether printing and social sharing are included.
6. Will you publish my child's photographs?
Ask whether consent is bundled into the booking contract or requested separately afterwards. Bundled consent means you have already agreed without deciding.
7. When will I get the gallery, and what if you are late?
A date with no consequence attached is a hope, not a commitment.
8. How long is the gallery available?
Most galleries expire. Find out when, and back your images up.
9. What is not included in the quote?
Albums, prints, travel, extra edited images. Get it in writing before you pay a deposit.
10. Can I see a full gallery, not a highlight reel?
Anyone can produce six good frames. A complete session is a much better test.
The one where our answer may not suit you
We do not publish prices. Sessions vary too much — a themed build, a two-hour event and a three-day wedding do not sit on one grid — so we quote per booking. If you specifically want to compare studios from a published price list, we will be harder to shop than some. That is a real trade-off and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
